Saginaw Street CIABoard Meeting · 2026-08-20

Saginaw Street CIA Board, August 20, 2026

This one’s almost entirely about art. Three separate public art items on a single corridor board agenda is a lot.

No contracts, no dollar figures, no eminent domain. The Saginaw Street Corridor Improvement Authority is a small body and this is a light meeting, so instead of forcing a “top 3” format that would just be three updates in a row, here’s what’s actually worth your attention.

🔦 Items worth your attention

A mural or public art opportunity connected to Amy’s Catering is up for a decision, not just a discussion (Item 3-a). The board will take formal action on it, which makes this the one item on the agenda where something actually gets decided. If you care about what goes on the walls along Saginaw Street corridor, this is the item to watch.

Two more art updates round out the discussion section. Durant Park has a public art project in progress (Item 3-b), and someone’s wrapping a traffic signal cabinet in artwork somewhere on the corridor (Item 3-c). Both are status updates, no action expected.

The board also acts on its own insurance coverage (Item 4-a). Directors-and-officers or liability coverage for a CIA board isn’t glamorous, but it’s the kind of housekeeping that matters if a board member ever gets sued over an official decision.

💰 Where the money’s going

Nothing on this agenda carries a dollar figure.

📌 Also notable

Public comment on corridor matters is on the agenda (Item 6). The meeting is at 529 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI. Check the CIA’s posted agenda for exact start time and comment procedures.
