Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Work Session Preview | September 15, 2026
The traffic signal contract is already at $11.5M. The county wants to bump it to $14.75M this year, then set the 2027 ceiling at $16.25M.
The 3 items worth your attention
The traffic signal and intelligent transportation system contract (2026-0883) is the biggest dollar story on this agenda. The current-year ceiling goes from $11.5M to $14.75M, a jump of more than 28%, and then the 2027 renewal would be set at $16.25M. Five vendors share the work: Lumin8 Transportation Technologies, North Cherokee Electrical, Over and Under General Contractor, Reedwick, and The Comtran Group. All of it comes from SPLOST funds.
Why, per the city: The contract provides on-demand services for installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signal facilities countywide.
A multi-year concrete and landscape restoration contract lands next (2026-1140). DAF Concrete, Inc. would handle repairs to pavement and landscaping disturbed by water, sewer, and stormwater work, with an initial period running through the end of 2026 and renewal options stretching to 2030. The full contract ceiling is $10.8M. The previous contract for the same scope spent about $1.8M during its one-year run.
Then there’s the public safety vehicle re-award (2026-1219). A prior contract with Akins Ford gets rescinded, and the county would re-award to two different dealers: Smyrna-F LLC dba Wade Ford and Allan Vigil Ford Lincoln, Inc., together covering up to $10.1M in Police Department and Sheriff’s Office vehicle replacements. The packet doesn’t detail why the original award is being pulled.
Why, per the city: This purchase replaces vehicles for the Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office as included in the 2026 budget.
