Human Services Committee Preview, September 1, 2026
Three separate HUD grants for homeless services are on the table Tuesday, and together they represent a quiet but meaningful chunk of federal dollars flowing into DuPage’s social safety net.
🔦 The 3 items worth your attention
The county is in line to pull in a $328K HUD Continuum of Care Planning Grant to support local homeless services planning for program year 2027 (6-B). That’s the largest single dollar item on this agenda, and it comes at no cost to county taxpayers.
A second HUD grant, this one at $212K, would fund the county’s Homeless Management Information System operations (6-C). A third at $91K covers coordinated entry into that same system (6-A). Taken together, the county is asking the committee to move all three grants into the books in one sitting.
Staff is also asking for the green light to apply for Community Development Block Grant funding and an Emergency Solutions Grant for program year 2027 (6-D). Nothing’s awarded yet. This just authorizes staff to submit the applications, keeping the county in the running for federal dollars that support community development and emergency homeless services.
